Huat and Min are an Item

Phew! What a scare Leng gave us last week! It was stomach flu after all! I am happy to announce that she is fully recovered and NOT pregnant! Silly girl! Oh, and I am sorry to hear that you were not selected for the Paris Baking Course, dear. Why didn’t you tell us that you were thinking of having the wedding earlier because of this? Anyway, the good thing is there is no need to rush the wedding anymore.

Back to the wedding, I need John and Leng to confirm the number of tables for the wedding. Last week it was 55 tables but this week, it seems to have grown to 58! Your mom added the tables yesterday because she said the old neighbours from Malacca are coming too.

I will be contacting Norman the photographer this week to discuss the possible locations for the shoot. Thanks to Hui Min for the contact (he seems a little young at 28, are you sure he is experienced, Min?) I will ask him to post on this blog soon since he needs to be part of the planning.

How is the ring appointment, John? Have you arranged a time to go ring shopping with Leng and her mom? Remember, a ring has to be three to four times your salary, at the minimum, ok? Haha!

Hey Boon Huat, I’m putting you in charge of the special item for the wedding dinner. Try to do something creative, ok? Without singing, of course. :P

Hui Min, please help Boon Huat with this since you have access to all of Hui Leng’s photos for the slideshow.

By the way, did any of you change telephone numbers? I received this strange SMS saying “I know who you are. I am watching you.” I didn’t recognise the number though.

Not me. Haha! Maybe you have a stalker or secret admirer? I am so sorry for the confusion last week. You guys! Jumping to conclusions so fast just because I threw up and asked for the wedding to be moved up. I will check with Mom about the tables, you know how excited she is about this wedding. Anyway, John, your bonus can offset the extra tables right?

What? More people? I’m not sure how much I’m getting this year. Bonus is a private thing, don’t discuss it here please. All this is getting a little out of hand. I am feeling very aggravated by the changes and rising costs of this wedding, guys. We have not practised good risk management here.

I really don’t want a “cheap” wedding, John. This is the Big Day for us and our parents and we should spare no expense.

Boon Huat, I took this off Wikipedia. Hope it helps:

In many cases, English words take on the meaning of their Chinese counterparts, resulting in a shift in meaning. One example is “borrow”/”lend”, which is commonly mixed up in Singlish because it is derived from the same Mandarin word, “借” (jiè), which can mean to either lend or borrow.

A so-called ‘Bid Day’ wedding does not mean that it has to be extravagant and lurid. At the end of the day, decades down the road, it is not the number of guests you will remember, nor the financial digits but the look in your partner’s eyes, your first dance and the words in each other’s vows, among other little things.

I like what Aisha Mustafa said. Kudos to you! At any rate, even if Hui Leng is not pregnant, I’m pretty sure they are still gonna come up with an interesting ending to this. What’s good about all of this though is that everyone thought of Leng as pregnant and have predicted the ending already, and now she’s not! So who knows what now right?
I’m hooked! =)
