I never want to go ring buying with you lot again! My goodness! John, Leng, Leng’s mom, AND Leng’s aunties! It was a circus at the jewellery shop! I never knew choosing the ring was more painful than pulling teeth! John, you were such a hero for keeping your calm throughout the whole affair, even though you could literally see more and more notes flying out from your wallet every time they brought out the next more expensive tray of rings. Haha, and every time Leng picked out a ring, John’s eyes saw the price tag before he saw anything else. But the aunties, they looked at the size of the rock before anything else. It was a battle of wills. But I think a satisfactory compromise was reached in the end.
My favourite moment in the whole event was when it was time to pay. The sales assistant told you guys that paying by credit card was going to be 2% more “because of tax” (right, which just meant she was passing the credit card fees to you). Then she suggested that John pay by cash to get the “discount” and pointed you to the nearest “ATM Machine” to “draw money”. It would have been funny if John had come back with a 10,000 note, handdrawn. But of course, that’s illegal tender, and we all want legal tender between John and Leng.
Ok, bad joke, yes Min, I’ve used up my quota, so back to the planning of the wedding, guys. Food tasting is coming up so I want Hui Leng and John to confirm the attendance of your parents. You have to tell me which menu you want because it is going to affect the cost per table, especially since we are at 58 tables now.

I’m just relieved the ring met with the approval of ALL the ladies present. My parents will be able to make it for the tasting. My sister as well.

I love food tasting! I am looking forward to trying the shark’s fin soup at this hotel.

I think we should not have shark’s fin. It’s cruel and expensive.

Since when did you become a Greenpeace supporter, John?
September 11, 2009, 12:13 pm |
I just think it is overpriced.

Now you are just being unreasonable. I want everything to be perfect.

Do whatever you want. It was just my suggestion. Nobody listens to me anyway. It’s like I am redundant.

Hey hey hey! Don’t be so sour! We can work it out, ok?
September 11, 2009, 12:17 pm |
Yes, please don’t fret over the menu. We will decide at the tasting, ok?

Oh, mom said that she will be keeping the ang pows collected for the tables belonging to our side, following the usual custom.

I thought all the ang pows will be used to offset the cost of the entire wedding dinner? You mean your parents keep your relatives and friends’ red packets? We need to find a cheaper hotel with fewer tables right NOW.

Calm down everyone. Let’s wait till the tasting before we make any rash decisions, ok?

I see that a storm is already brewing in a (little) teacup. In any case, I find it interesting that it is customary for in-laws to keep the red packets.

hui leng, don’t be such a bridezilla! don’t forget, this wedding is as much john’s as it is yours! a wedding is not everything… the marriage is.

Well at least there’s one rational person around – Anna. I’m against shark’s fin as well Huimin! It’s cruel and really, its the broth that makes it taste good, not the fin itself!

Does it really concerns about the sizes of the jewels? i prefer concerning the price , the better less pricing the bigger the spending, or the less pricing for a huge piece of jewel, its better either way.
I wonder why people these days thinks about The sizes of all ?
Or they thinking of the better the size the better love will be given or quality i mean.
